OpenLearning is a diverse and global organisation that is constantly growing. Through OpenLearning, students and teachers can come together from all over the world to share knowledge, make social connections, and help to revolutionise education as we know it. Here are the top 10 countries that make up the OpenLearning community:

1. Australia

Australia is the home of OpenLearning, and the source of most of our students and teachers. In October 2012 OpenLearning ran Australia’s first MOOC with the help of Professor Richard Buckland from the University of New South Wales.

2. United States

The United States is, needless to say, an enormous country with an enormous amount of students eager to learn. If you’re in Silicon Valley or the middle of the Chihuahuan Desert, OpenLearning has plenty of education options for you to explore.

3. Malaysia

With the help of OpenLearning, Taylor’s University ran Malaysia’s first MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) in March 2013. We’re proud to help expand the opportunities available to Malaysian students and teachers.

4. India

In recent years India has made enormous progress in improving the quality and accessibility of education. OpenLearning is thrilled to contribute to widening the horizons of Indian education options, particularly for rural students.

5. United Kingdom

From Oxford to Cambridge to Edinburgh, the United Kingdom is home to some of the world’s oldest and most legendary universities. Frankly, though, going to university in the rain can be a bit of a drag – and that’s where OpenLearning comes in! Wherever you are in the world, the weather doesn’t have to dampen your education – with OpenLearning you can learn from the comfort of your own home, wrapped up in a blanket with a steaming mug of hot chocolate.

6. Canada

Canada: famed for maple syrup, aggressive geese, hilariously polite residents – and now, quality online education! With the help of OpenLearning, of course.

7. Portugal

If you’re on holiday in Portugal’s beautiful Lisbon or a student at one of Portugal’s universities (some dating back to medieval times), OpenLearning can be with you wherever you are. You don’t need to be on campus to learn – you can learn at the beach, in a thousand-year-old-castle, or from a tram on the way to your next incredible destination.

8. Russia

If there’s one thing that people never learn from history, it’s this: never invade Russia in the winter. With widespread access to fantastic online education, maybe Napoleon would have hung on to the greater part of continental Europe!

9. Germany

A popular saying among German residents is that Berlin, the vibrant cultural capital, is “arm aber sexy” – poor but sexy. You don’t need to have overflowing pockets to access quality education – with OpenLearning, you can interact with students and teachers from anywhere in the world.

10. Spain

Whether you’re sunning yourself on the beaches of Andalucia, admiring the spectacle of the Palacio Real in Madrid, or exploring ancient Roman monuments in Segovia, you don’t need to put your education on hold. With OpenLearning, you can take your education with you wherever you go.

Where are you in the world, right now? Share some pictures of your hometown and show us how diverse the OpenLearning community can be!
